I just came back from Malaysia.
and I am down with FLU

Back to my Fuzhou Trip updates.

Met up with other long distance relatives (my grand uncle's daughter 's grandson's family) and had Chong Qing Hotpot for lunch

Went Shopping at Gu Cheng..
There is alot of cheena stuff.
The place is 7 times the size of Bugis street.



Though I am not a Buddhist ,
But I am always fascinated by the Big statues of gods in the temples.


Then I went to Nanputuo Si,<南普陀>
It is a major destination of Buddhists. Situated at the foot of the Five Old Men Peak .The peaceful temple is over 1,000 years old and is Xiamen oldest sight.
My mum is a devout Buddhist mum .She had a great time praying.




The character Fo (佛), into a rock-at 15 feet (4.6meters) .


We took the ferry to Kinmen -
a island that belongs toTaiwan.
I learned about the long history of the bad blood between Taiwan and China.
Kinmen used to be a war zone area.
The Kuomintang fled to Taiwan after the Chinese civil war of 1949.

Next Stop is Hulishan Fort,胡里山炮台
It is touted as China 's best preserved coastal cannon.



The fort also boasts an impressive display of ancient armament.
The massive German-made 60 ton gun is the fort's main attraction .
This place reminds me of the Andy lau movie-The warlords

Liberty

My auntie brought my mum and I to the Sha-La beach.
Its a beautiful and deserted beach.There wasn't much people around.
The perfect weather and the cooling sea breeze made my day!



This beach somehow reminds me of the show Stairway to heaven.

As I toured around the country.
I saw some interesting staff,Its a real eye opener!

I saw this plastic surgery advertisement in the cab.
As a biz student I must say the marketing channel for this advertisment is wrong!
HAHA

and Sex-shop do exists in China
but they look like a crappy provision shop.

Life in ulu rural land

As I walk the streets of 中街村.(my granduncle village)
I found a Lan shop along the streets and saw shops owners using the Internet.
This ulu place is not as old fashion as i thought .
I could feel a sense of 亲切感 in village,
Unlike the buzzing Shanghai City .
Everyone is very polite and courteous.


China 's version of Tuk Tuk.
5 of us (3 relatives ,my mum and I)
squeezed into this vehicle and travelled 1 hour to the city.
Its a hell of a bumpy ride!

Are you able to identify which one is fish ball and which one is an egg?


We drop by another relative house and had a delightful meal .


There are many stray dogs around the house.
They looked so pitiful and I kept feeding them with bones.

Then,I chanced upon two public toilets in the village.
I never knew that the condition of China 's toilet is like that.
Its the worst toilets I ever seen in my life!
Hopefully Tekong toilet will not be like that.

娘宫裡 2

I stayed in granny 's mansion on the second day.

I dont think we will see hangers like that in Singapore.

I toured around the village..
The beautiful lake and veggie farm-rare sight in Singapore.


This is the old and smelly wet market.
I waited for a relative in this place for 1 hour!!!!
I nearly killed her.

娘宫裡

Some of you are wondering WTH is 娘宫裡 ?
Its the name of my granny 's hometown in China.
The place where she grows up and got married.
The place of my roots.
Yes,I know many of my friends who refuse to acknowledge
the fact that our forefather comes from China .
I gotta say I am glad that I got the opportunity to visit <the place of my origin>
b4 my enlistment date.

This is the first time I took the plane by myself.


Its a 4 hour long flight..Camwhoring and
snapping of clouds kept me occupied.


I stayed at my grand uncle house for the first night.
Its a very old big Terrance house.
Its gets kinda freaky at night as there is a retro clock that goes
Ding Dong Ding Dong every half an hour.It reminds me of
the horror show One Missed Call.

And there are big spiders living under the same roof .
I think my grand uncle house can be used as a haunted house for
horror films.
Then I went over to my granny house.
There is a basketball court just outside the house.
Damn cool right?


Ermmm and a burned down house behind it....
